Clear Picture creates films crafted through knowledge and skills acquired over many years in the broadcast industry.
We make films with many esteemed and respected clients, from individuals to institutions. These include universities, public bodies, private companies and the NHS.
We approach every film with your wishes at the core of the process.
The first question we will ask you is ‘who will watch this film?’ The audience is at the heart of every finished film.
You may have a solid idea of what you require, or perhaps you don’t know where to begin. We will listen closely and transform your ideas into filmed content.
With a background in broadcast news, our approach is always to record and produce video content with a minimum of fuss.
Our films are used in the public sector, in the academic and medical worlds, corporate, community and arts sectors.
About us …
Clear Picture Productions was started by James McDonald, following a successful career as a broadcast journalist in the UK and abroad.
Our remit is simple – to make short films that explain information in a clear and engaging way.
Our narratives are structured around interviews or text, using modern filming and editing methods.
We pride ourselves on our friendly approach to filming, interviewing with sensitivity and giving confidence to everybody involved. But don’t just take our word for it …
James helped us to translate complex scientific findings into an easy understandable “story”. James naturally put interviewees at ease and alleviated their anxieties. Interview questions were exceptionally well thought-out and astutely phrased – he has a natural ability to bring out the best in the interviewee.

James is a consummate professional; he commendably and uniquely combines not only great technical expertise and creativity but also really good people skills which mean that he is able to put interviewees at their ease. I can unreservedly recommend him.
